Already 1996, and the last entry I put in was in October of ‘95. Amazing what can happen in such a short time. I guess I have just been so busy I haven’t had time to write much. Plus, you know how it is when you get behind in your journal, it is easier to not write, than to try and catch up.

Of course, we can assume that I had the baby. We went to the hospital on November 1st at about 6 in the morning to be induced. The doctor came in at about 8:15 and broke my water, and they started me an IV drip of Pitocin. I started having contractions shortly after that, that were very mild. At about 10:30 they were very strong and seemed never to end. The doctor had told us that labor would probably be long, and I would not deliver till evening. Wrongo. I felt like I needed to push, but the nurse had just checked me and I was only a 7. I was still convinced I needed to push. She checked again, and sure enough, it was time. They started running around crazy, running to get the doctor. He came running in and I pushed 2 times, and out he came at 12:26pm. D watched it all and took lots of pictures. Kim was with me through it all as well. D (now known as Daddy) cut the cord and everything, and I just laid back and fell in love!!!! He weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces and was 19 inches long and had tons of hair. We had lots of visitors (with very few from my family). And we sat around the next night and watched our Thursday night shows and went home after ER was over. The house we went home to was about a kajillion degrees below zero, our gas had just gotten turned on, it was the first freeze of the winter, and our furnaces were both broken!!! So we all slept like sardines under a million blankets in our bed.
